Pat is "Cowboy" to the bone. His poetry is a refreshing testimony to that fact. His magical words and perfect delivery hold audiences captive and he has become one of the most respected entertainers in the business. This is evident by the response he receives, whether at a neighborhood gathering or the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering at Elko, Nevada. However, the greatest accolade Pat Richardson ever received was bestowed on him by his peers in July 2003, when he was awarded the Academy of Western Artists Award as its Best Cowboy Poet.
